Mitochondrial RNA granule associated proteins: investigating their roles in mtDNA gene regulation and expression

I am a molecular biologist by training and most recently obtained a Masters in Cell and Stem Cell biology at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, France. My research interests have been broadly based on  molecular mechanisms in mammalian cells.  My current project in Prof. Martinou's laboratory will allow me to investigate mitochondrial RNA granules (MRGs). These novel RNA foci and their roles in transcription, RNA processing and those that have yet to be elucidated, will provide a better understanding of mitochondrial gene expression.

The collaborative milieu of the REMIX ITN is perfect for me to focus my research with the aid and input of other mitochondrial researchers. I am motivated to add new knowledge to this interesting and vital field in the next 3 years.
